The Higher Education and the City series focuses on scholarship that examines higher education ecosystems from the lens of urban change with an emphasis on the past and future of cities and metropolitan areas. Relevant cultural and social issues, the pursuit of innovation, and the relationship between higher education and economic and community development will contribute to ongoing dialogues.
The Higher Education and the City series will illuminate broad themes and embrace diverse perspectives and interdisciplinary approaches. The series is characterized by an emphasis on scholarship that focuses on higher education topics that embrace both an analytical component and an engaging orientation. Manuscripts will complement discussions regarding access and quality, leadership, civic engagement, architecture, design and sustainability, diversity and inclusion, and the role of higher education in the development of the American city. Pertinent urban and regional planning topics, environmental issues, and urban policy studies guide the series’ orientation.
